Altered Nature
Artist book asset pack for VR experiences
Project Info
Altered Nature is a collection of digital assets that were used to create the VR experience, A Walk Through Time: The Redwood Experience. All source material was captured from Joaquin Miller Park in Oakland and Soquel Demonstration Forest in Los Gatos, California. The source material included photographs, photospheres and 3D photoscans. These original captures were then altered using Blender and Photoshop to create the final results.
Altered Nature Publication

The Altered Nature publication investigated how digital assets could manifest in a physical form. Currently most digital assets packs are only for sale online in their digital form. I wanted to explore how asset packs could be packaged into a collectable item and presented as an artist book. The form of the book took inspiration from software packaging and the digital content was stored on a USB stick contained in a 3D printed base. Prints of select texture maps were included along with a short booklet that contained information about the content. A 3D printed sleeve held the whole thing together.

A Walk Through Time: The Redwood Experience
A Walk Through Time: The Redwood Experience is a virtual reality experience that reflects the passing of time in a redwood grove. All content used to create this VR experience is included in the Alter Nature asset pack publication. The experience consists of 3 scenes; morning, afternoon, and night. The visuals and audio in each scene paint a picture of the emotions surrounding each time of day.
