Form Studio

Design process experimentation

Project Description

This series of work focused on deepening my understanding of form and developing new strategies of working. For this project, I experimented with a variety of mediums including spray paint, 3D printing, drawing, and photography.

Drawing Studies

These early drawing studies were used as the foundation to develop my 2D series. I was interested in geometric patterns with organic qualities. A core concept was the use of an impediment as a force that the guided or contained line work.

Paper Cut Stencil Studies

A series of paper cut studies that further explore the concept of an impediment. Some of these stencils were later used to create my final spray painted work.

Final Spray Painted Work

The final spray painted work combined elements from earlier sketches and stencils. A goal for this work was to create the feeling of organized chaos through combining geometric and organic elements.

3D Form Work

This series incorporated the use of 3D printing and photography to capture interesting geometries created through manipulating tool path settings in Cura.
